An entertainment program by Hunan-based Mango TV has caught the attention of domestic TV channel viewers。

    Chengfengpolang De Jiejie， which roughly translates to Sisters Riding the Winds and Breaking the Waves， has something to do with age。


    The program recently invited 30 actresses and singers born before or in 1990， put them up in an apartment flat where they competed against each other for a talent show and then selected five among them to form a new star group。


    The program deals with the entire process， showing how the actresses and singers worked hard toward pursuing their dreams。


    The program‘s unique selling proposition is its effort to erase prejudices based on age， as many entertainment programs tend to link good performance with age。


   The entertainment industry has caused enough harm by laying too much emphasis on women’s age， tilting the scales in favor of youthful appearance over performance。


    This is disrespectful to all women， both young and old。


    The Mango TV show comes as a welcome relief， the reason why it is such a hit with audiences。 It shows how performers above 30 pursue dreams just like their younger counterparts。


    All performers should be given equal opportunities， irrespective of age。 In fact， the equality should extend to all professions。 And why just women， even men should be treated equally， regardless of age。 “De-agelization” should be trending and never itself age。
